Getting set for the season

Plan to help licensees boost festive sales unveiled

Consumers are looking for a greater drinks selection than ever before, says Matthew Clark

WHOLESALER Matthew Clark has introduced a raft of measures designed to help licensees make the most of the fast-approaching festive season.

Responding to trends which show a growing demand for greater drinks choice among consumers, Matthew Clark is this year offering its largest ever Christmas drinks range, which includes sparkling white wines, mulled wines, brandy and Cognac, as well as cream and coffee liqueurs.

But with value also forecast to play a key role with consumers this Christmas, the firm will deliver a series of ‘competitive offers’ on key seasonal drinks tomorrow (November 24), as well as between December 1 and December 12.

The festive season is vital for licensees, with many taking around 20% of their annual sales.

Additionally, the wholesaler is set to launch a series of bespoke drinks category guides, which offer licensees tips and advice for the season around various topics – from food and wine matching to cocktail training.

Mat Bird, marketing director at Matthew Clark, said that with many outlets taking around 20% of their annual sales in November and December, the festive season is “vital” for licensees.
