New restaurant Shore looks good

Eatery launched as part of £15m investment in Queensferry hotel

The restaurant offers impressive views of the new Queensferry Crossing

A NEW restaurant has opened in the Queensferry Hotel ahead of its relaunch as the Double Tree by Hilton Edinburgh Queensferry Crossing this autumn.

Newcastle-based Cairn Hotel Group unveiled The Shore Grill & Fish House as part of a £15 million investment in the property. The new restaurant and bar is designed to take full advantage of the hotel’s location on the headland above the town of North Queensferry, overlooking the new Queensferry Crossing, which is due to open on August 30.

The open-plan space has floor to ceiling windows to maximise the views of the Forth, and design features including a carved wooden ceiling and brass details, which are intended to tie in with its maritime location.

Cairn Hotel Group, which owns and operates over 33 hotels and 28 bars across the UK, including Hotel Indigo Edinburgh – Princes Street, The Station Hotel in Aberdeen, The Stirling Highland Hotel and the recently-acquired Holiday Inn Aberdeen – West and Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre, is carrying out a full refurbishment of the hotel, including the addition of 64 bedrooms to the existing 77 rooms, the creation of a new function suite (where the restaurant was previously located), and a new double-height reception area with floor to ceiling windows; work on these areas is said to be nearing completion.

General manager Stuart Douglas said: “We are really excited about The Shore and our launch is well timed to capitalise on the huge influx of visitors that the opening of the Queensferry Crossing will attract.

“We are confident that the new restaurant and investment in the hotel’s facilities will have a wide appeal to both locals and visitors to the area, capitalising on the hotel’s unrivalled location and views of the Forth and the bridges.”
