New wholesale firm offers taste of Spain

Triana Drinks’ portfolio brings brands from continent and beyond

A NEW Glasgow-based drinks wholesale company majoring in Spanish and super-premium brands has been launched.
Triana Drinks, which takes its name from the historic district of Seville, is the brainchild of father and daughter team Stephen and Ally Gilmour.

Based in Hillington, the new company is said to be one of three UK wholesalers to distribute Heineken-owned Cruzcampo, which is brewed in Seville.
Triana Drinks is working with a number of drinks firms, including Cellar Trends, Catalyst Brands and Signature Brands, to list a raft of other Spanish brands, such as Larios gin, Licor 43 liqueur, Soberano 5 brandy and the Faustino range of Rioja wines. In addition to the Spanish brands, the wholesaler also carries a range of premium and super-premium brands from around the globe, including Beluga vodka, Old J rum, and tequila brands Casamigos and Sauza 901. There’s also a range of beers, including Italy’s Birra Morena, Lucky Buddha from China, and Bangla from Bangladesh; and Triana Drinks is in talks with other drinks firms as it seeks to grow its portfolio.
The wholesaler said it is backing the brands with a raft of support for operators.
“We’ve gone through every category and picked Spanish brands and also what we consider the best quality products in each,” said Ally who, laterally, ran the family’s La Boca restaurant in Glasgow.
“I’ve worked in bars in Spain every summer for the past five years and I know and love these brands. We’ll be offering brand training in-house for our customers. We’re coming at this as if we’re brand owners.
“And I think with our experience in running outlets and Dad’s previous jobs with Guinness and Scottish Brewers, we’re coming at it from another angle.
“The key for us is to back it up with support – we have premium products so we’re giving premium service.”
