CPL Training acquires rival

CPL Training has acquired rival company ABV Training for an undisclosed sum.

The deal comes after CPL stated an intention to grow its market share across the UK through the acquisition of training and software businesses. The ABV name will be retained, as will the company’s staff.

ABV was founded in 2001 by the late David Hawbrook and his wife, Cathryn. It offers a range of face-to-face training as well as e-learning courses.

Cathryn Hawbrook said the sale of the business represented “the next stage in the development of ABV Training”.

CPL chief executive Daniel Davies said that, as a competitor, CPL had “watched ABV Training with interest over the years”.

“The company has established a strong brand over the last decade, building a talented pool of training staff,” said Davies. “This acquisition is an excellent fit for CPL Training and we look forward to welcoming the team from ABV and continuing the legacy of its founders by delivering excellence in training across the hospitality sector.”
