MORE than half of the alcohol sold in the Scottish off-trade costs less than the Scottish Government’s proposed minimum unit price, according to a new report.

The document, titled Monitoring and Evaluating Scotland’s Alcohol Strategy: Annual update of alcohol sales and price band analyses, was compiled by NHS Health Scotland.
Among the findings was that around 60% of alcohol sold through the off-trade is sold for less than 50 pence per unit, with 26% sold at less than 40 pence per unit.
