Cleaning condition a step too far

PROPOSALS to implement a raft of new mandatory conditions regarding the standard of fixtures and fittings and cleanliness of premises in Dundee have been branded a step too far by the trade.
Dundee licensing forum wants the board to impose a series of conditions on new premises licences, including that “matted or ingrained carpets must be thoroughly cleaned by shampooing” and wallpaper, paintwork and window blinds must be “maintained in clean and good condition”. A report on the findings of a consultation on the proposals is due before the board next month.
SLTA boss Paul Waterson said: “This again highlights the inconsistent approach between boards.”
