Loch-side bed and breakfast business on the market

A LOCH-side bed and breakfast business on the Isle of Skye has come onto the books of property agent Bruce & Co.
Located a short walk from the rocky shoreline of Loch Snizort, Hillcroft is a traditional croft dating from 1920, which now comprises three en suite letting rooms, a guests’ lounge and dining room; a fourth bedroom is used by the current owners for friends and family but could be used as a further letting room. The sale includes “well-presented” owner’s accommodation.

Much of the guest house’s popularity can be attributed to its views of Loch Snizort.

Loch Snizort is said to be abundant with wildlife such as seals, otters, cormorants, oyster catchers and herons, as well as a variety of seabirds on Aird Point.
The area is also popular with walkers, with the Trotternish ridge, the Quirang and the Old Man of Storr close by and the Cuillin a 40 minute drive away.
For golfers, there is a nine-hole course at nearby Skeabost Hotel; fishing and pony trekking are also available in the area. And the renowned Three Chimneys restaurant at Colbost is just a 20-minute drive from Hillcroft.
Bruce & Co’s Stuart Furfey, who is handling the sale, said the current owners have refurbished and re-roofed the property since they acquired it in 2007.
Hillcroft attracts good levels of repeat custom, he said.
“The increasingly-busy Hillcroft B&B benefits from its main road position and achieves a good level of passing trade,” said Furfey.
“Much of its popularity can also be attributed to its views of Loch Snizort Beag to the Trotternish Hills.”
Offers over £425,000 are sought for Hillcroft.
