ST Andrews-based distiller Eden Mill has set out its blueprint to increase its annual whisky production from 300,000 litres per annum to over one million bottles per year.

The gin and whisky distiller has submitted a planning application for a new £3.1 million state-of-the-art production facility in the town to enable the boost.

The project, carried out in conjunction with Glasgow-based Opfer Logan Architects, will involve around £1.1m in building works and £2m in plant expansions.

The new “high-tech” distillery, which if approved is expected to be completed by summer 2020, will focus on sustainable whisky production, with a goal of achieving a zero-carbon footprint.

Paul Miller, co-founder of Eden Mill, said: “The Eden Mill at the Eden Campus is the perfect location to create our innovative new distillery and production facility.

Mango & Pineapple Liqueur, which will sit alongside the Love Gin Liqueur range, is described as containing tropical fruits which “combine to create a rich bouquet which jumps out of the glass”, while pineapple and cantaloupe are said to deliver a “fruity punch”.

The 20% ABV liqueur is packaged in an embossed glass bottle that is said to be embellished with a subtle tasting note design that highlights the tropical notes of the liqueur.

Miller of Eden Mill believes that the new liqueur “will be a hit with customers this summer”.

“As with our previous liqueur, this versatile tipple can be enjoyed neat, or over ice served with premium tonic or sparkling elderflower and garnished with pineapple or orange wedge,” he said.
