Buzzworks is still the best

They were voted 73rd best employer across all sectors and the eleventh best employer in hospitality

THE team at Buzzworks Holdings were celebrating after the firm was named as one of the top employers in the UK for the fourth year running.

The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for in the UK 2019 list placed the Ayrshire-based multiple operator as the 73rd best employer across all sectors and the eleventh best employer in hospitality.

To win a place on the list, businesses must employ a minimum of 250 full-time employees and earn one of the 100 Best Companies Index scores, which is voted for by staff.

Supporting personal growth through training and development programs, a hands-on leadership team with strong values and key benefits for staff, such as decreasing the working week without decreasing pay and paying overtime for every hour worked or time in lieu, are all said to have contributed to the group’s high score amongst employees.

The firm, which operates eleven venues across Scotland, marked the accolade earlier this month by participating in National Best Companies Day to thank its 500 strong team, with the Buzzworks Bakehouse creating a celebration cake for each venue with individual cupcakes for each member of staff. The company will also host a ‘Buzzfest’ outdoor event for all staff to enjoy this summer.

Buzzworks MD, Kenny Blair, said: “Our staff are what define us and are integral in creating the foundations of a long-term, successful hospitality business. That’s why we invest so highly in employee training and wellbeing.

“Our philosophy is simple, if we look after our staff then they will look after our customers. It’s humbling to see that our venue teams have scored us so highly to secure Buzzworks a place on the 100 Best Companies list for a fourth year running.”
