Brewing up new partnerships

Beer and cider ties bolster Czech brewer’s UK portfolio

CZECH brewer Budweiser Budvar has bolstered its UK portfolio with a range of beers and ciders after joining forces with two craft drinks firms.

The partnerships, with London-based Cidersmiths and Angioletti UK – the sales office for Italian craft beer and cider producer LM Melchiori, will see Budweiser Budvar’s UK sales team sell both Cidersmiths’ and Angioletti UK’s products alongside its own range of Czech beers.

This is just the start of our next phase of growth and innovation.

Currently, Cidersmiths’ portfolio includes Harry Masters’ Jersey, Sixpointsix, and Bristol Draught, while Angioletti UK’s range includes Angioletti Secco sparkling craft Italian cider, Angioletti Rose with Blueberry sparkling craft Italian cider and Angioletti ‘Mela Rossa’ craft Italian cider, as well as craft beers Bionda Trentina and Pura Gluten-Free.
Simon George, managing director of Budweiser Budvar UK, said the partnerships come at a time when demand for more premium craft beers and ciders is growing.
“We see these partnerships as an extension of our core values of authenticity, provenance and quality,” he said.
“The trends in the UK cider market highlight the move towards credible premium products and both Cidersmiths and Angioletti answer that consumer demand.
“As consumers seek alternatives to Italian macro brands Angioletti UK’s range of Italian craft beers offers a stunning alternative with the gluten-free beer also enabling us to respond to this growing trend.
“This is just the start of our next phase of growth and innovation for Budweiser Budvar UK and we are currently talking to a small number of other brand owners about exceptional products that match our company values.”
