SBPA says no to bottle marking
Dundee board backs measure as part of anti-underage drinking moves. Plans by Dundee licensing board to introduce a bottle marking scheme to combat underage sales have been opposed by a major on-trade group. The Dundee authority has been seeking views on targeting the voluntary scheme at ‘premises with off-sales facilities’ to tackle the proxy sale of alcohol to persons under 18.
Tennent’s takes training to Isles
Tennent's Lager is taking its Training Academy to the Northern Isles. Scotland's biggest alcohol brand has struck a deal with wholesaler JW Gray which will see it establish new satellite training centres in depots on Orkney and Shetland. The centres will run courses on a variety of topics, including food hygiene, wines and spirits, management skills and customer service. JW Gray has already been running a range of courses for islanders, which have largely focused on alcohol legislation.
