New look for old town restaurant

EDINBURGH Italian restaurant Divino Enoteca has been relaunched following a six-week refurbishment which saw the venue extended and given an elegant new look.

• The new-look Divino Enoteca features “rich oak floors and a welcoming ambience”.

Tucked under George IV Bridge on Merchant Street, the 100-cover venue is described as offering a “unique twist on contemporary dining with an archetypal wine cellar married to an elegant fine dining Italian restaurant”.
The revamped eatery, part of Tony Crolla’s Vittoria Group which also owns La Favorita, Vittoria on the Bridge, Vittoria on The Walk in Leith and Taste of Italy, features “comfortable chairs, banquettes and booths, rick oak floors and a welcoming ambiance”.
The new menu created by head chef Francesco Ascrizzi is described as taking a contemporary approach to traditional and authentic Italian flavours. Divino Enoteca has continued its strong focus on wine (the venue won the SLTN Wine Award in 2011) and paired it with an extensive range of cocktails, all served from a central bar; the restaurant also offers bespoke wine tasting dinners.
Tony Crolla said the venue retains the group ethos – “simple, quality cooking and ingredients combined with the kind of service that will make customers return again and again”.
