Fife village pub new to market

Chance to snap up 17th century coaching inn

Red Lion

A NEW owner is being sought for a coaching inn located in the coastal village of Culross, Fife.
On the market through commercial property firm Christie & Co, The Red Lion is said to date back to the 17th century.
The property overlooks the River Forth and is near the Fife Coastal Trail walking route. According to Fife Council, the area has enjoyed a 12% increase in visitors, thanks to the filming of the British-American TV series Outlander in the village.
The Red Lion comprises three bar areas on the ground floor, with a capacity of more than 70, and a large paved area that can seat a further 80 customers.
The property also has a three-bedroom owner’s apartment.
The business currently trades seven days a week, with food served between 12noon and 9pm every day.
Stuart Drysdale, who is handling the sale on behalf of Christie & Co’s Edinburgh office, said the current owners are selling up in order to retire from the trade.
“The sale presents an excellent opportunity to take on a busy public house with strong food sales and little immediate local competition within a charming village made famous by the [small] screen,” he said.
Offers in the region of £1.2 million are sought for the freehold of The Red Lion.
