CARRICK Lodge Hotel in Ayr has changed hands in a deal brokered by commercial property agency Smith & Clough Business Associates.

The hotel and restaurant business, which comprises seven bedrooms and dining space for 160 covers, was sold on behalf of Ayrshire operator Jim Murdoch, who has owned the business since 2004. The business was bought by Tom and Ruth Johnson from Kent for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of offers over £695,000.

Graeme Smith, who handled the sale, said the property had received “high levels of interest from all over the UK” with several offers made.
