CHEF Ajmal Mushtaq of Mushtaqs Restaurant in Hamilton has been crowned Scotland’s Chef of the Year at the Asian Food Awards.

Picking up the award at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh last month, Mushtaq said it was “a real honour” to be named Scotland’s top chef.
“There were so many brilliant chefs in the process and I am delighted to have brought this award to Hamilton,” he said.
“It has been a successful year so far in which we have seen Mushtaqs build the biggest restaurant kitchen in Britain, and with our very own TV show in the pipeline, it really has been an amazing year.”
The Asian Food Awards is organised by the Asian Catering Federation, which said the aim is to “recognise the economic and individual role played by restaurants and takeaways on the high street throughout Scotland”.
