ST ANDREWS-based distillery and brewery Eden Mill is set to launch what’s said to be the UK’s first ‘hopped gin’.

An initial trial batch of the 46% ABV spirit, which was available at the North Hop Festival in Inverness last weekend (August 29 and 30), proved “massively popular”, according to Eden Mill.
Distiller Scott Ferguson said staff “had been considering the possibilities that hops might add to our botanic recipes”.
“In the end we decided that we could have a lot more fun by creating a unique hopped gin in its own right,” he said.
“The main hop used in the gin is our brewery favourite ‘galaxy’. This gives a good mix of citrus and tropical fruit with hints of apricot as the hops add more layers of explosive flavour to the core botanicals.”
