Spanish beer makes 2014 its year zero

THE family-owned firm behind Spanish lager brand Estrella Galicia is bringing a draught version of its alcohol-free beer to the UK.

Estrella GaliciaEstrella Galicia 0.0% is said to be brewed using the same recipe as the brand’s 4.7% ABV lager. The alcohol is then removed after the brewing process, which the firm claims ensures that the alcohol-free variant retains the beer’s distinctive flavour.
The launch of draught keg Estrella Galicia 0.0%, which is already available in 250ml bottles, will be backed by an on-trade POS package including branded glassware and tent cards giving consumers the chance to win tickets to the MotoGP; Estrella Galicia has strong links with MotoGP, sponsoring current world champion Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.
Lindsay Castling, brand manager at PLB, which distributes the brand in the UK, said: “This is an exciting time for Estrella Galicia 0.0%, with a whole programme of activity planned to support and really push the product here in the UK.
“We’ve had an extremely positive response so far, especially on taste, as Estrella Galicia 0.0% really does hold its own when it comes to quality against our 4.7% lager.”
