AN Edinburgh-based hotels firm has launched its own beer to tie in with this year’s Homecoming celebrations.

Crerar Hotels joined forces with brewer Belhaven to produce Heart & Soul draught lager, which is available across all 12 hotels in its portfolio – 11 of which are in Scotland.
Brewed with Scottish barley, Heart & Soul is said to have a biscuit aroma with a lightly malty flavour.
It was rolled out across Crerar Hotels’ outlets late last year, along with Inveralmond Brewery’s bottled ale, Homecoming. The hotel group currently stocks beers from seven Scottish breweries.
Crerar Hotels chief executive Paddy Crerar said Heart & Soul takes its name from the company’s motto.
“When guests stay at a Crerar hotel, we want to give them a taste of Scotland, something they can’t get at home; a reason to travel and to stay with us,” he said.
“2014 is Scotland’s Year of Homecoming and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a Scottish ale from a nice little independent Scottish brewery.
“Where possible Crerar Hotels stocks local ales from breweries close to our hotels to offer an alternative to the international brands and support local industries, while maintaining value for money.”
