New owner takes the helm

The inn has six letting bedrooms.

A ROYAL Deeside inn has changed hands for an undisclosed sum in a deal brokered by Christie & Co.

Located in the village of Aboyne overlooking the River Dee, the Boat Inn is said to date from the 1700s when it operated as a drovers’ inn for farmers taking their cattle across the river.
Today, the property retains many of its original features and comprises a traditional lounge bar/restaurant, public bar and a 50-cover function room; there are also six letting bedrooms.
Christie & Co’s Ken Sims said the new owner aims to “build upon the solid foundations” created by previous owners Wilson and Jacqui Clark. The inn was sold for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of £850,000.
