RESTAURATEURS seeking a new opportunity might be interested in two businesses which have come on to the books of Christie & Co.

The property agent is currently marketing MacKenzies Restaurant in Colinton, Edinburgh, and the Elliston Grill in the Renfrewshire village of Howwood.
Established in August 2010 by owners Billy and Catherine Murphy, Elliston Grill comprises a 60-cover restaurant, bar and an outdoor decked seating area, which can seat around 40 customers. It was awarded Tam Cowan’s Hot Plate Award in 2011.
Christie & Co’s Jonathan Clough, who is marketing the property with a price tag of offers over £380,000 for the freehold, said the business enjoys a “tremendous reputation and healthy turnover”.
“However, it is run completely under management and would be ideal for a more hands-on owner/operator who could build on its reputation and increase the turnover further,” he said.
“The property also comes with adjoining land, which could be developed to create a separate function suite, subject to planning permission. This would make this opportunity even more attractive to certain purchasers.”
The property agent is also marketing MacKenzies Restaurant in Colinton, Edinburgh, on behalf of owners David Coulson and Mike Fraser.
“The current owners have firmly established MacKenzies Restaurant over the last 23 years, and have developed a strong and well-regarded business,” said Christie & Co’s Barry McNeil, who is handling the sale.
“This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled would-be restaurant operator and chef to acquire a business with a large and loyal customer base.”
Offers over £499,000 are sought for the freehold of MacKenzies Restaurant.
