SIBA issues rallying call

INDEPENDENT brewers were being urged to show their support for the Save Your Pint campaign ahead of today’s debate in Parliament.

SIBA, the lobby group for small brewers, was urging its members to attend the debate in Westminster, generate media coverage and to encourage their local MPs to back the motion.
The group emailed its 800-plus members, more than 100 local pubs and other brewers with pub estates in a bid to drum up support.
“SIBA has, naturally, been actively supportive of the Save Your Pint campaign since the start, gathering signatures through brewery visits, beer festivals and pubs,” said chairman Keith Bott. “We are delighted that this debate, much-desired by the nation’s brewers, pubs and drinkers, is now taking place.
“We are now calling on our members to help us fill the House of Commons next Thursday and ensure that the debate has the outcome we all want – a review of beer taxation before the next Budget.
“We are unlikely to have another opportunity like this to change our industry.”
